Last week, on Thursday, December 8, 15 police officers from Calgary Police Service, the Alberta Sheriffs, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in Alberta, the Tosguna Tsuut'ina Nation Police Service and the CP Police, hosted a large-scale Checkstop in Airdrie.

"As a result, seven impaired drivers were taken off the roads due to Immediate Roadside Sanctions," stated a police press release.

According to police, Checkstops are hosted throughout the year, but during December, there is an increased number of Checkstops to fight against impaired driving.

"Ensure you have a designated driver, take a taxi, hop in a rideshare vehicle, use city transit or call someone to pick you up. Don’t drive while impaired by alcohol or drugs," police reminded residents.
