The Airdrie Female Midget AA Elite had just one game last weekend as they hosted the Lloydminster Elite Steelers on Sunday (December 10th).

The Lightning went scoreless in the first period but came away after the next 20 minutes with a 2-2 tie thanks to goals from Sarah Nusl and Kayla Bell.

It remained 2-2 until just after the 8 minute mark of the period when Taneson Svienson and Madison Black scored within 10 seconds of each to give the Lightning a 4-2 advantage.

Jenica Wilkie would follow up with an empty net goal as time expired to secure a 5-2 victory.

With her goal in the third period, Madison Black moved into second overall in the league scoring race with 13 points. The Lightning still hold the best spot in the AFHL South Division, 6 points ahead of the Calgary Fire-Red.

Kayla Bell's efforts to score in the second period earned her the 'Smart Play Of The Game' Honours.

The Lightning travel to Red Deer on December 16th to take on the Chiefs.
