The severe thunderstorm watch has ended.

Earlier on Monday afternoon, Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a severe thunderstorm watch for Airdrie and the surrounding areas on Monday afternoon. 

"Conditions were favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain. Some thunderstorms may become severe this evening," Environment Canada stated. "Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Lightning kills and injures Canadians every year. 

Severe thunderstorm watches are issued when atmospheric conditions are favourable for the development of thunderstorms that could produce one or more of the following: large hail, damaging winds, and torrential rainfall.
