Day one of the Calgary Stampede commenced yesterday (July 7th) and Airdrie and Cochrane brought their best to the rodeo.

Airdrie's Jake Vold came into the Stampede Grandstand after winning the Ponoka Stampede last weekend. The local rider put up an impressive 85 points in his first bareback ride of the competition.

That score however, was only good for 2nd place after Richie Champion came through with a score of 89 during his ride.

Cochrane's Tanner Milan definitely stole the show in the Steer Wrestling competiton, with a time of 4.2 seconds, currently putting him atop the standings after day one.

The Stampede Rodeo events kick off again this afternoon at 1:30.
