A couple athletes from the Airdrie Judo Club have just come back from an International Tournament in Scotland.

Justin McEachern and Mckenzie Morgan joined other judoka from across Canada for the event in Edinburgh.

Both athletes did very well in their category with Morgan ending the day with a silver finish..

"I got second place, which is really good. Good improvement from last year, last year I didn't place."

McEachern ended up fifth overall in his category and says it was great to not only represent Canada but his local club.

"I'm used to just fighting within Canada. It felt pretty good to represent Canada as well as Airdrie and Alberta."

The Tournament also provided an opportunity for the athletes to learn from former Olympic Judoka, including Britain's Neil Adams.

"He got a medal in two of the Olympics and he was World Champion as well," says McEachern, "It was pretty great to get to learn from him"

Both Morgan and McEachern are studying and training at Lethbridge College and would love to take part in more International Tournaments next year. McEachern is also gearing up for the Canadian Open Judo Championships in Calgary at the end of May.
