Last weekend the Town of Drumheller hosted the Alberta 55+ Games and some local participants shared in the spotlight.

Senior athletes from Airdrie won gold in the over 70 Shuffleboard and the over 55 and 70 Carpet Bowling.

One of the Carpet Bowling winners was Roy Macfarlane who said the overall experience was great.

"Drumheller put on a really good show, despite only having 4 months to prepare."

As MacFarlane touched on the success of the games, he also mentioned the struggle it took for some members to participate as the games don't receive funding from Sport Connection Alberta.

MacFarlane, along with many of his fellow competitors are hoping that will change in the future so more can make their way to the games.
