It was a heartbreaking loss at a very crucial time in the Canada Summer Games in Winnipeg for Airdrie's Ayden Makarus and the Alberta baseball team.

Yesterday (August 3) afternoon, the undefeated Manitobans held Team Alberta to just three hits, handing them a 1 - 0 setback in the semi final game.

The loss eliminates Alberta from playing for a gold medal.

Makarus was 0 for 2 at the plate and committed an error at third base which didn't factor into the game's outcome.

Alberta loaded the bases in their final at bat but couldn't push across the tying run.

Makarus and Team Alberta will play for the bronze medal this afternoon at 2:00 pm our time.
