The Shaw Charity Classic is a golf tournament that comes through Calgary with a big focus on helping children and youth charities and organizations across Alberta.

This year marks the 9th year the tournament has been around, which has raised over $76 million for over 230 Alberta organizations.

The Shaw Charity Classic runs August 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7.

Community donations to the list of organizations the tournament supports this year are matched up to 50% by Shaw Birdies for Kids presented by AltaLink.

Of those organizations, a few of them are right here in Airdrie: Volunteer Airdrie, Stephens Backpacks Society, and the Airdrie & District Hospice Society.

According to the Airdrie & District Hospice Society, the money donated to them through the Shaw Charity Classic will enable them to provide grief support and programs to children and youth using age-specific resources developed by Rainbows for All Children Canada.
