The mystery of where the Airdrie Legion's front yard bench is has now been solved.

After originally thinking it might have been stolen, it turns out one of the legion members took it, so it could be fixed up.

Bill Drummond, First Vice President of the Airdrie Legion Branch 288 is excited to see the bench back on the front lawn.

"It's now back better than ever and we are very happy about that."

Drummond stated he does feel bad accusing somebody of stealing it, but is happy that it is now back in its spot.

"There was in fact, a lady who donated some money to us to buy another bench."

But since the old bench turned up, that money was used to fix the original bench.

Altogether, Drummond very much appreciates all the community does for the legion. He said it feels good knowing so many people care about them.

"Back on Remembrance Day, we had around 1,500 people come out and show their support for our veterans, and it's an amazing thing."

While the bench has already been used, it is mostly used during the summer months when veterans frequently sit outside and enjoy each other's company.

Drummond finished off by once again thanking everybody who helped in any way trying to find the bench.
