The Airdrie Mohawks quest to bring back a Western Canadian Senior C Championship lacrosse trophy from Prince George, B.C. got off to a great start yesterday (August 11) with a pair of wins over their B.C. opponents.

The Mohawks won both their games on day one of the championships.  In their opener, the'Hawks got past the Mission Cedar Kings 7 - 6 then crushed the North Shore Indians 16 - 6 in their second game of the day.

Airdrie has two more preliminary games today.  At 11:00 am they'll take on Coquitlam, followed by a 3:00 pm encounter against Saanichton.  Both starts are Mountain Time.

If the Mohawks continue their winning ways they'll advance to tomorrow's playoffs.
