Mounties are treating the discovery of human remains in Rocky View County as a homicide. The remains were discovered when firefighters were extinguishing a grassfire. 

According to Mounties, the Tsuut’ina Nation Fire Department responded to the grass fire near Range Road 40 and Township Road 241 (southwest of Airdrie) at 5:30 on Wednesday morning. 

"Cochrane RCMP and the Tsuut’ina Nation Police Service both attended the location. The Alberta RCMP Major Crime Unit was subsequently notified and deployed to take carriage of the investigation," police stated. 

An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Calgary today.
