An earlier collision on the QEII, northbound of Veterans Boulevard has been cleared. Police previously said the collision involved a semi-truck that had been blocking one northbound lane.
Southbound lanes on the QEII, north of Airdrie are also clear.
"Alberta RCMP would like to remind the public that, when road conditions are less than ideal, it is best to slow down and drive to the conditions of the road and be mindful of emergency services assisting the scenes," police reminded.
Road conditions continue to be treacherous around Airdrie, with multiple collisions reported.
The QEII heading Southbound towards Calgary City limits has blowing snow with icy sections, as well as icy wheel paths, and black ice. Heading Northbound from Airdrie, similar conditions have been reported. However, Highway 2A, towards Crosffield is completely covered in snow, with icy sections and slippery wheel paths also indicated.
On Tuesday afternoon, before the evening's snowfall, Mounties warned motorists to stay off the roads if travel was unnecessary.
"Traditionally, the region between Airdrie and Innisfail on the QEII has been an area of great concern," police stated. "If you must travel, RCMP wants to advise motorists to use extreme caution, slow down and maintain an increased distance between yourself and other drivers."
The snowfall warning continues to be in effect for Airdrie and much of Alberta.
"10 to 30 centimetres of snow is expected by Friday morning across southern Alberta. Most regions will receive 10 to 15 centimetres of snow but a few locations could see as much as 30 centimetres," the warning stated.
