Last summer, Airdrie football star Jordan Baldwin was ready to embark on the next chapter of his young career.

The former George Mac Mustang and Airdrie Raider had been accepted to Dordt College in Iowa on a Football Scholarship.

Not long after the season started though, Baldwin suffered an injury that put everything on hold.

"I just got clipped very funny in a practice...my coach told me to go to the doctor...once I got my x-rays and stuff they said that I cracked where I had my surgery on my shoulder and I was no longer able to play football anymore, ever."

The news was devastating to Baldwin who at just 19, was forced to make the tough decision to walk away from his passion.

"I just trained. I tried to get back into it. I did everything I could to try, see if I could get back in. Never got that courage to try again. Once you hear that you could be crippled for life if I got hit again wrong. I just kinda made the smart decision so I could actually do other sports in the future."

Baldwin, a graduate of Airdrie Koinonia Christian School, says his faith played a huge role in helping him through the rest of the season and moving on.

"In the end, I realized that God has a different plan, that's why He brought me home...It was more of like a test of faith, it was not necessarily a bad thing. It just meant that I had to move forward."

Although he can't play on the gridiron, Baldwin says he's not leaving the sport of football.

"I'll be coaching for Mustangs and I might also be coaching for Raiders and some Peewee Storm stuff...I'm also coaching at a little Christian Camp at Zion Church in Didsbury. Athletes in Action and I'm helping out with their football program."
