After heavy snowfall on Friday, road conditions in Airdrie and the surrounding area continue to be poor.

Conditions on roads in Airdrie have been reported to be slippery, with sections of black ice and slush on roads, with blowing and drifting snow. There are also reports of several cars in the ditch before the roundabout on 8 Street heading out of Airdrie. Drivers have also noted that there were multiple cars in the ditch along Stoney Trail heading into Calgary.

The QEII highway southbound and northbound has also been reported to be partially covered in snow and slippery, with slush and packed snow making icy wheel paths. 

North of Airdrie of Highway 2A at the junction of Highway 72 road conditions are also poor with reports of icy sections and black ice.

Motorists are asked to exercise extreme caution when driving and drive to winter conditions. Police have asked that if travel is not necessary to stay off the roads. 

On Friday, there were several multi-vehicle collisions which disrupted traffic for hours, including a massive 30-car pile-up that occurred East of Carstairs. Late on Friday evening, the RCMP responded to a multi-vehicle collision near Crossfield, involving a jack-knifed semi-truck.
