The George McDougall Mustangs senior boys squad is one step closer in their quest for a provincial championship.

The Mustangs emerged on top after a narrow win against the Blessed Oscar Romero Ravens out of Edmonton this afternoon (March 17).

The game came down to the final seconds. Tied 77-77 with 4.1 seconds left in the game, the Mustangs inbounded the ball and Dawson Funk drove to the hoop. Funk missed, but was fouled on the attempt and went to the line where he sank two free throws to put the Mustangs up by two.

The Ravens called a time out, and inbounded the ball in their front court with 1.2 seconds left, where their point guard missed a three pointer that would have won the game.

The Mustangs will now face St. Peter the Apostle Catholic School from Spruce Grove.
