Some Airdrie junior volleyball teams are off to the gold medal match, while senior teams will have to settle for a spot in the bronze medal game after last night's (November 6) semifinals in the Rocky View Playoffs.

In the senior boys competition, it was not a good night for Airdrie teams as both the George McDougall Mustangs and the Bert Church Chargers lost three straight sets to the Springbank Phoenix and the Cochrane Cobras, respectively. The Chargers and the Mustangs will go head to head tomorrow (November 8) at 7:15pm for the bronze medal, while the Phoenix and the Cobras battle for gold.

The senior girls Mustangs were also unable to win a single set against the Chestermere Lakers, losing their match. That semifinal loss means the Mustangs will face the Springbank Phoenix for third place at 6:00pm tomorrow. The Lakers and the Cochrane Cobras secured a spot in the gold medal game with their semifinal wins.

It was better news for Airdrie junior teams. The George McDougall Mustangs have an opportunity to be Rocky View Champions after beating the Springbank Phoenix in three straight sets in their semifinal match last night. The Croxford Cavaliers were not as lucky, losing three sets to none against the Cochrane Cobras. The Cavs will take on the Phoenix for bronze in tomorrow's match at 6:00pm. The gold medal game between the Mustangs and the Cobras will go earlier in the day at 4:45pm.

The Mustangs junior girls squad will also contend for gold after beating Cochrane in three straight sets. They'll face the Phoenix in the Tier 1 Championships at 7:15. Meanwhile, the Croxford Cavaliers put up a good fight but were eliminated by the Bow Valley Bobcats after losing three of four sets. With the Cavs in the rearview, the Bobcats will go head to head against the Bert Church Chargers in the Tier 2 Championships at 6:00pm.
