The George McDougall Mustangs got their first win of the football season yesterday (September 19).

After getting blown out 43-0 last weekend to the Springbank Springbank Phoenix in their home opener, the team was hoping for a better performance against the Bow Valley Bobcats.

In what turned out to be a tight defensive battle, the Mustangs held on to beat the Bobcats 16-6 at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park.

Josh Seaman and Quinn Bohnet scored touchdowns for the Mustangs while Zach Thiessen and TD Oulette caught interceptions.

Runningback Wyatt Anderson and quarterback Maxime Longchamps kept the offense steady and carried the ball for most of the second half, helping to secure the victory.

Austin Javorsky, quarterback for the Bobcats, was stellar in leading his team throughout the game with the help of receivers Adam Garland and Derek Reid, who caught the majority of the passes.

The Mustangs now get ready to face the Bert Church Chargers on Saturday (September 23rd) in the Airdrie Bowl. That game goes at 3pm at Ed Eggerer Field.
