The George McDougall Mustangs senior boys basketball team had a big weekend, winning the Battle River Shoot Out tournament in Wetaskiwin.

The Mustangs easily beat Strathmore High School 79-55 on Friday night (February 24) and advanced to face Medicine Hat's Monsignor McCoy High School Colts, the fifth ranked team in the province. In a game that saw the Mustangs play mostly their bench players, George Mac beat the Colts 59-50.

In the finals, the Mustangs faced the Blessed Oscar Romero Ravens from Edmonton, ranked sixth in Alberta. The Mustangs pulled out a nine point win, beating the Ravens 90-81 to win the weekend.

Justin Bragg, Austin Thompson and Hunter Young were named as the three game MVPs.
