Airdrie-Cochrane NDP candidate Shaun Fluker is kicking off his campaign for next May's provincial election on Sunday, July 10 with a meet the candidate event at the Clubhouse in the Cochrane Ranche between 2 and 4 p.m.

Fluker will discuss his campaign plans and issues of importance to Cochrane and Airdrie residents. Details will also be provided on ways to assist with the campaign.

"It feels like we're at the beginning of a lengthy election campaign, so this will be my official kickstart and hopefully get a bunch of people excited about my campaign. I hope to get a few folks out who can join me with doorknocking as I work through the riding."

Alberta NDP MLA and environment critic Marlin Schmidt is attending and will speak about the NDP's vision for Alberta’s future.

The event falls on the heels of the NDP constituency association's annual general meeting.

There's no cost to attend and it's a family-friendly event with light snacks and refreshments.

Fluker won the nomination against former candidate Steve Merrell in May.
