Jake Neighbours and the Edmonton Oil Kings win the Western Hockey League Championship, beating the Seattle Thunderbirds 2-0 in-game six. 

In the championship series, Seattle took game one, but Neighbours and the Oil Kings showed their resiliency by winning three in a row to take a 3-1 series lead. Seattle was able to get one more win before the Oil Kings closed out the series in game six to punch their ticket for the Memorial Cup. 

Neighbours was able to get two assists on the only two goals of the game. The goals were scored by Jacub Demek in the first period and Kaiden Guhle in the second frame. 

In the series, Neighbours had five points, all being assists. 

Both team captains have origins in the Cochrane-Airdrie AAA minor hockey system in this series. Ty Bauer of Cochrane leads the Thunderbirds, while Jake Neighbours of Airdrie leads the Oil Kings. 

From June 20 to 29, Saint John, New Brunswick will host the Memorial Cup. The Oil Kings will play their inaugural game against the Shawinigan Cataractes of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League on June 21.
