A former Airdrie Xtreme player led his team to a big victory in Day 1 of the WHL Cup last night (October 18th).

Edmonton Oil Kings prospect Jake Neighbours had one assist and was named Player of the Game for Team Alberta as they beat Saskatchewan 8-3.

Neighbours teammates Noah Boyko Kaiden Guhle led the way offensively with a total of three goals and three assists.

In six games so far with the Calgary Buffaloes, Neighbours has 5 goals and 4 assists, placing him fourth in the AMHL's scoring race.

Team Alberta is back on the ice tonight (October 19th) to play British Columbia, who lost to Manitoba 3-2 in a shootout in their opening game.
