During last week's snowfall, the Airdrie area set a new record. According to Justin Shelley with Environment and Climate Change Canada, we broke the record on Thursday.

"We set a snowfall daily record on April 4, with 10 centimetres, the old record was eight centimetres back in 1992."

The three-day snow event, was the only record set for the Airdrie area, with a minimal amount of snow on Wednesday and five centimetres on Friday.

"In the Cochrane area, we had a report of 22 centimetres over those three days. Communities south of Calgary also saw around 20 centimetres."

Although we did break a record, Shelley stated April 8 was one of the smallest records broken when it comes to single-day snowfalls.

"The maximum daily snowfall in the month of April for the Calgary area is 45 centimetres back in 1932."

Historically, April usually sees around 19 centimetres of snow, while we are already close to that mark we are early in the month and we could always see more.

"Typically we see more snow in the spring months of March, April and May than we do in the winter months of December, January and February."

While we still have time to see more snow in the forecast, Shelley believes we won't see any snow this week, we could see some rain tomorrow, but other than that we should have some warm weather.

"Temperatures this time of year are about 10 degrees. We're looking like we're going to be near that for the first half of the week, and then into the back half of the week and into the weekend we could see temperatures in the upper teens."

The daytime high forecasted by Environment and Climate Change Canada for today and tomorrow is around 10 degrees. By the weekend we could see temperatures reach 18 degrees.

Shelley finished by saying that next week, we could see cooler temperatures with the possibility of rain or snow, so it's not time to take off the winter tires just yet.
