An Airdrie Hockey player will join his teammates this weekend, despite nursing an injury.

Former Airdrie Lightning and Brooks Bandits star Maddison Smiley is in Vancouver as his Mount Royal Cougars take on the UBC Thunderbirds on November 25th and 26th.

Although Smiley will likely suit up for the team, there's no word yet on whether he'll hit the ice as the defenseman is currently dealing with an injury.

In eight games so far this year, Smiley has netted four assists and is a +2 on the ice.

The Airdrie player had previously spent the last two year with the University of Massachusetts at Amherst, in the NCAA

Game one of the road trip gets underway at 8pm on November 25th with the teams battling again the next day at 5pm.
