Olds RCMP are looking to the public to help identify two people, and a vehicle of interest involved in a drive-by shooting on Wednesday (May 11) on the QE II Highway.

The RCMP's preliminary investigation has determined that at around 7:00 pm that evening, the suspect a vehicle and the vehicle of the victim in the incident, were both driving northbound along the QEII in the right lane, between Hwy 582 (Didsbury overpass) and Hwy 27 (Olds overpass). The vehicle being driven by the suspects accelerated to overtake the victim’s vehicle and pulled alongside them in the left lane.

 While the vehicles were beside each other a firearm was pointed from the suspect vehicle at the victim and multiple rounds were discharged at the victim’s vehicle. 

The suspect vehicle is described as possibly being dark in color with two doors. With the assistance of the RCMP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) evidence has been recovered from the victim’s vehicle.

The male person of interest and driver of the vehicle is described as:

  • Caucasian male
  • Mid to late 20 year-old
  • Short Black beard
  • Wearing a black baseball cap

The passenger of the vehicle is described as:

  • Female
  • Dark hair

The vehicle is described as:

  • Grey/ black or dark gray 2-door car.
  • Sports car

The Olds RCMP would like to speak to anyone who was in the area that witnessed the incident or that may have any information that could assist police with their investigation. The police are also requesting dashboard camera footage from anyone traveling on QEII north between Hwy 582 and Hwy 27 on Wednesday, May 11th between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm.
