Operation Christmas Child is getting bigger in Airdrie.

The 19 year-old program has helped less fortunate families with toys and supplies for the holiday season, and now Airdrie is going to be a big part of it.

This year the campaign is looking to new heights with a goal of 100 million shoe boxes to be collected worldwide. Last year the local campaign raised 1,038 boxes, and this year the goal is 2,000. Airdrie hasn't really had the volunteers and coordinators in the past, but this year all the roles have been filled.

Boxes for this year's Operation Christmas Child can be picked up at three locations in Airdrie:

  • The Dollar Store (Just off Yankee Valley Blvd)
  • The Airdrie Public Library
  • Airdrie Alliance Church

Boxes must then be dropped off at the Airdrie Alliance Church from November 19 - 25.
