On July 1, 2023 at around 11:35 p.m. Cochrane RCMP arrived on the scene of a collision on Highway 743 at Hunter Valley Road. According to reports, a pedestrian was struck by a side by side.

Upon reaching the scene, it was discovered that the pedestrian, a 42-year-old man from Olds had been walking when he was hit from behind by a side by side. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced deceased on-site.

The driver of the side by side also suffered injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital and has since been discharged.

"The investigation continues. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of the deceased." reads a statement released by the RCMP.
