Tuesday night, Airdrie council was presented with an update on renovations to the Plainsmen Arena. Rob McLean with the City says the facility will open three weeks later than expected, on October 31. He adds the extra time needed to complete the work is appreciated and thanked council for their patience.

McLean acknowledges the inconvenience to some of the ice user groups and says they've been working well together to find ice time for October until the  building opens.

Tuesday's meeting also saw the Mayor present a pewter belt buckle to Bert Construction to place in the concrete under the ice as a permanent reminder that the Plainsmen is a City of Airdrie venue.
