The #StopTheStrike campaign is focused on raising awareness in Ottawa to the importance of ending a potential longshoreman strike at the Port of Montreal before it begins later this month.

Greg Northey is vice president of corporate affairs with Pulse Canada.

He talked about the importance of the Port of Montreal to Canadian agriculture.

"It's often, especially when Thunder Bay is not in service...it's really important for Montreal to be there because it makes sure that we continue to export through the east," he said. "An end of March strike would be highly problematic. It serves a variety of really important high value markets that we have in the grain sector."
