The 2017 edition of the Rocky View High School football season got underway last night (September 8) but only one of the two scheduled games was played.

The game scheduled for the Ed Eggerer Athletic Park in Airdrie between the Bert Church Chargers and the Bow Valley Bobcats from Cochrane was postponed because of poor air quality caused by the lingering smoke in the region.

The game featuring the defending league champion Cochrane High School Cobras and Springbank Phoenix did get the season underway with the Cobras coming away with a 35 - 10 victory.

This afternoon, the W.H. Croxford Cavaliers are scheduled to host the Chestermere Cowboys.

That game gets underway at 4:00 pm at Ed Eggerer Athletic Park.
