The Town of Crossfield is getting a much needed boost in the wallet when it comes to the the renovations of Pete Knight Memorial Arena.

Yesterday, Rocky View County announced that they had approved $50,000 of funding towards the project. The process started with the arena putting in a funding request to the Crossfield and District Recreation Board, as Kim Kueber, Community Services Coordinator explains.

When reached for comment by Range Sports, the news caught Crossfield's Mayor Nathan Anderson by surprise.

The renovation costs are expected to be in the $300,000 range.

The remaining costs will be covered through an arena fund raising account, volunteer labour and services, a Community Facility Enhancement Program grant from the province and support from the Town of Crossfield.
