This week’s Thursday Thunder player is Austin White; presented by Save on Foods.

White is a rookie goalie that wears #35 for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder.

According to the Thunder's General Manager Shaun Guest, he has had 42 saves for the win against Strathmore and is a natural leader on and off the ice.

"Austin's character itself is the most impressive part of his demeanour and he displays his positive attitude daily."

This past weekend was the last regular season game, where they beat the Wheatland Kings 4-2.

Coming into this season as a rookie, White gave credit to his team for being able to help him best as possible.

"The guys were all super, they welcomed me in right away and helped me focus on my playing style and not have to try and fit in to be with the guys."

White has played in 20 games, winning 13 and losing seven, one being an overtime loss. He has a 3.38 goals-against average along with a .908 save percentage.

The Thunder did have a stellar regular season so they were able to go straight to the second round of playoffs, either playing the Rocky Mountain Rams, Red Deer Vipers or the Mountain View Colts.

"I think we're a very tight-knit group, we all get along, we have some good chemistry, good coaching staff, we work hard, and we also have a very talented team. I think we just come together, do our thing, and every game will go well."

White has played hockey in Airdrie for many years playing for teams like the CFR Brison and the AA Airdrie Lightning.

Away from hockey White works for Cyclone Plumbing and Heating.

The Thunder's playoff push will begin Tuesday, February 21 at 8:30 pm at the Ron Ebbesen Arena.
