This week’s Thursday Thunder player is Joey Haden; presented by Save on Foods. Haden wears number 23 on the Airdrie Techmation Thunder team.

Haden has played for the Thunder for two seasons and has gotten a total of 73 points, with 40 points this season; 25 goals and 15 assists.

Haden started out playing for teams like the CFR Bisons and the AC Avalanche.

This past weekend Haden played very well, according to Shaun Guest the Thunder’s general manager.

“Joey had a complete game Friday and Saturday. On Saturday he played a huge role with a natural hat trick in the first period against Cochrane. Joey is really seeing the ice well right now and his game is peaking at the right time!”

Haden said that his game on Friday was a little slower but the win in the end was great and the game Saturday against Cochrane is a good team to faceoff with.

“Saturday was going to be a good game against Cochrane, we knew that going in. They're all-around a good team and I was able to find the net three times in the first period. But everything just kind of worked out for us.”

Haden has been having a great season so far but no team can be carried by one player, Haden talked about how great the team has come together.

“It's great that we're getting everyone back healthy now. We're really starting to come together as a team now, everyone's clicking, the power play is clicking, and just in general, the team is really starting to mesh really well together. Especially if we go to the playoffs; we just want to be on a steady incline.”

When not playing hockey or being at the gym Haden works at his electrical apprenticeship at Propak.

Haden said when done with the Thunder he still wants to be involved with hockey.

“I would like to stay involved with the game just because like it's been a huge part of my life, it can’t really just uproot and detach. I would like to coach or think it’d be good to give back to the community.”

The Thunder’s next game is Friday 27 when the Thunder faces off against the Three Hills Thrashers in the Rob Ebbesen Arena at 8:00 pm.
