The season is now over for the Airdrie Sky High Twirlers.

The club's last competition was a big one, taking them overseas for the International Cup on August 9-13 in Porec, Croatia.

Coach Loren Dermody reflected on the final competition.

"It's so wonderful to see the excitement in all of our girls, especially the ones who experienced an international competition for the first time and how inspired they got. Having them get to take in the baton twirling world on an international level are memories that will last a lifetime."

The team arrived in Europe ahead of the the competition to practice from August 6-8. Following the opening ceremonies on August 8, the club began competition on August 9, with a number of competitors making it to the semi-finals and finals on August 11.

The Sky High Twirlers advanced two teams to the final round. "Trance", comprised of Brittany Denroche, Hayley Hegland, Miyah Kailey, Mikayla MacDonald, Emily Mathewson, Kendall Patton, Taelyr Patton, Jurni Pruden and Megan Schulz, placed 4th in the A Team competition. "Let It In", made up of Hannah Cooper, Kadence D'Haene, Paige Epp, Emily Lewall, Brooke Mauro, Malina Seredinski, Megan Smith, Kayla White, Anna Wiedmann and Claire Zeeb, placed 6th overall out of 27 teams in the B Team competition.

A number of individual athletes also competed in Finals on August 12. Taelyr Patton took the podium a number of times, placing first in the Adult A Artistic Twirl. She also placed second in the Adult A 2-Baton and third in the Adult A Solo B competition. Brooke Mauro medaled twice, getting silver in the Jr. B 2-Baton and bronze in the Jr. B 3-Baton. Emily Lewall topped the podium in the Jr. B 3-Baton. Meghan Schulz got gold in the Solo B 15-17 competition, while Emily Matthewson placed third in the B 15-17 Artistic Twirl.
