Just before 5 a.m. this morning, Environment and Climate Change Canada placed Airdrie and the surrounding areas under a snowfall warning,

Snowfall with total amounts of 15 to 30 cm is expected. Heavy snow will taper off Friday morning, but light snow will continue through Sunday.

Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow. Prepare for quickly changing and deteriorating travel conditions. If visibility is reduced while driving, slow down, watch for taillights ahead and be prepared to stop.

Motorists are urged to exercise caution on the roads as Highway sections may become slippery. As well as open areas such as bridge decks, overpasses, and exit ramps.

This is a drastic change from Tuesday when some locations in Alberta were setting temperature records but as is quite characteristic of the region, starting today we will now settle into below-seasonal temperatures until early next week.
