When you walk down the cookie aisle in the grocery story you're probably not aware of what you're missing, especially when it comes to the Oreo selection.

As soon as you cross the boarder into the US, boom!! Over 60 flavors of Oreo cookies!

Before 2010, Oreo's were essentially the basic Chocolate and Vanilla variety, but jump to 2012 and Nabisco, the makers of Oreo's decided to get creative and rolled out a handful of new flavors. Not in Canada though...

Some of the new flavors included:

  • Creamsicle
  • Watermelon
  • Birthday Cake
  • Cookie Dough
  • Peanut Butter
  • Strawberry Milkshake
  • Gingerbread
  • Halloween

Every year more and more flavors are introduced, some Limited Edition and some have become standard flavors.

In Canada you can find regular chocolate and vanilla Oreo's, double stuffed, birthday cake, Limited Edition fireworks and most recently cinnamon bun.

In 2017, more flavors are being rolled out, just taunting us from across the boarder.

  • Waffles and Syrup
  • Mississippi Mud Pie
  • Jelly Donut
  • Churro
  • Hot Cocoa
  • Cookie Butter
  • M&M Halloween

The question remains... Why does Nabisco not share their Oreo cookie flavors with the rest of the world?

I have scoured the internet trying to find that answer..it all comes down to manufacturers.

In Canada, Oreo's are made and distributed by the cookie company 'Christie', while in the US, Nabisco is the maker and creator of Oreo's.

Until the two companies start sharing recipes, it looks like our jealousy will continue.

If you're dying to get your hands on a few new flavors, just head south on Highway 2 and make your way to the Pigeon Port and Entry boarder crossing. Don't forget your passport!
