The Southern Alberta RCMP have confirmed that they are working in conjunction with their law enforcement partners in relation to sexual assault charges that American actor, Nathan Chasing Horse is facing.

Southern Alberta district encompasses many municipalities, including Airdrie, Didsbury, and Beiseker, to name a few.

Cpl. Gina Slaney, Media Relations Officer for Alberta RCMP Southern Alberta District confirmed that the Southern Alberta District RCMP is working with the Tsuut’ina Nation Police and Calgary Police Service in the event that more victims come forward.

46-year-old Chasing Horse was arrested on Tuesday, January 31, in North Las Vegas, Nevada. According to police there, he is facing six charges, including sexual assault of a child under 16 years old, two counts of sexual assault, two counts of sex trafficking of an adult, as well as child abuse/neglect.

Because he has attended several Indigenous ceremonies and events across Canada, police are looking to see if there is a connection between him and historical sexual assaults.

Chasing Horse starred in several roles; his most known role was in the 1990's Kevin Costner film Dances with Wolves and a 2007 Calgary-filmed HBO production Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee.
