Close to 80 Special Olympics athletes proved their prowess at Shamrock Lanes on Sunday.

Airdrie Special Olympics hosted their annual bowling tournament which included bowlers from Red Deer, Olds, Drumheller and Cochrane.

The competition was intense for the top team, but eventually Olds took home the trophy for the best pins-over-average score,

Andrea Peters of Airdrie won the trophy for the female highest three game pins-over-average, Edward Watts won the male highest three game pins-over-average, and Katie Foreman took home the female highest single game score trophy.

Mike Dougan from Olds won the other individual trophy for the men with the highest game score.

Organizers say the tournament was a rousing success.
