Airdrie City Council held a special meeting yesterday (April 3) afternoon to discuss renewing the State of Local Emergency (SOLE) that was originally put in place on March 17th.

The city put the SOLE in place to support the province's efforts to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in Alberta and was enacted on the same day that Alberta placed a state of public health emergency on the province.

At yesterday's meeting, which was conducted by video conference because of social-distancing rules, council gave unanimous approval to renewing the SOLE, as of 4:30 pm on Monday, April 6th.

Council will meet again next Wednesday (April 8) to discuss renewing the SOLE once again.

On Monday, the regular meeting of city council is planned but, unlike other meetings, the public is being asked to stay at home.

Anyone with questions they'd like to have answered by Mayor Peter Brown or other members of council, can send them via email to public.questions@airdrie.ca or public.hearings@airdrie.ca
