A Calgary Police Service (CPS) spokesperson has confirmed to Discover Airdrie that two young men who were arrested in connection to a drug investigation into a group of suspected drug traffickers that resulted in the seizure of over $1 million in illicit drugs both came from Airdrie.

21-year-old Justin Fedoruk and 18-year-old Noah Riley Doherty were arrested June 16th and now face several drug trafficking charges.  The two recently lived in Airdrie and while one still does, the other recently moved to Calgary.  The CPS spokesperson wouldn't say which of the two recently moved.

A Media Release from CPS says the investigation began earlier this month when they began to gather evidence on a group of individuals who were involved in behaviour consistent with drug trafficking.  That investigation led to the execution of two search warrants.

Police seized more than 11,000 grams of fentanyl, nearly 500 grams of methamphetamine, 200 grams of cocaine, 87 Oxycodone pills and smaller amounts of heroin, crack cocaine, and other unknown substances.  The total street value of the drugs is estimated to be $1.187 million.

Fedoruk and Doherty were arrested and now face drug trafficking charges related to the seizure as well as charges of possession of the proceeds of crime.

Fedoruk was scheduled to be in court yesterday (June 25) while the next court appearance for Doherty will be on July 2nd.

Calgary Police Superintendent Cliff O'Brien said,  "We know that there is no such thing as a safe street drug. This investigation diverted a significant amount of drugs off our streets that had the potential to cause harm to the community.  We will continue to target drug traffickers to keep our city safe."

Police say their investigation is ongoing and additional charges could be laid in the coming weeks.
