The achievements of 17 athletes with Airdrie Special Olympics were celebrated last Sunday (August 20th) at their annual Awards Night.
The awards handed out honoured the most sportsmanlike and most improved player in eight different sports.

One of the biggest awards given out was the Heart Award which went to swimmer Cera Schreiner after a unanimous vote by all coaches.
Several members of Special Olympics Airdrie were recognized after participating at the Summer Games last July in Medicine Hat.
As Special Olympics gets ready for the next season, a new sport will enter the mix as they announced Basketball will be starting up this fall.
