The Airdrie Thunder were out to break a tie for first in the Heritage Junior Hockey League's Northern Division and Andrew McLennan made sure it happened.  

McLennan accounted for all of the Thunder scoring last night (November 24) with a hattrick in a 3 - 1 win over the Medicine Hat Cubs.

Ryan Simpson stopped 52 of the 53 shots that the Cubs directed his way.  

Airdrie now has 26 points in 19 games and sit two points up on Blackfalds, although the Wranglers now hold three games n hand.

In other HJHL action last night, the Cochrane Generals rebounded from a 7 - 2 setback last weekend at the hands of the Stettler Lightning with a 6 - 3 win last night in Cochrane against Stettler.

Talus Hume scored twice for the Generals.

The Mountainview Colts won for just the second time in November as they went into High River and beat the Flyers 5 - 4.

All three winning teams are back in action tonight.  

The Thunder travel to Coaldale to face the Copperheads, Cochrane visits the Medicine Hat Cubs while the Colts are at home in Didsbury to face off against the Strathmore Wheatland Kings.
