It's only been two games but the Airdrie Thunder are looking like they could be a strong contender in the Heritage Junior Hockey League this year.

Jacob MacDonald scored twice for the second straight game and the Thunder broke open a close game with three, third period goals to take a 5 - 2 win from the Thrasers in Three Hills last night (September 23).

The game shouldn't have been as close as it was if shots on goal are any indication.  The Thunder fired 61 pucks at Three Hills goaltender Klay Munro while the Thrashers could only manage 27 at the Thunder's C.J. Wedenig.

Ryan Plante-Crough, Andrew Nels and Brendan Davidson scored the other goals for Airdrie who next see action at home on Friday night against the, as yet, winless Cochrane Generals.

Cochrane lost their second straight road game last night when they fell 6 - 3 in Strathmore at the hands of the Wheatland Kings.
