The Airdrie Thunder managed to keep their three point lead over the Red Deer Vipers last night (November 17) as both teams emerged victorious in Heritage Junior Hockey League action.

Rylan Plante-Crough scored twice to lead the Thunder to a 4 - 2 win over the Wheatland Kings in Strathmore.

Clay Murray also had a two point night with a goal and an assist and Dante Raposo added two assists for the Thunder.  Jacob MacDonald scored the other Airdrie goal.

Airdrie improves to 11 - 4 and 2 on the season, good for first place with 24 points in the HJHL Northern Division.

The Vipers kept pace with the Thunder by dumping the High River Flyers 6 - 2 last night.  Red Deer has 21 points but holds two games in hand over the Thunder.

Elsewhere last night, the Cochrane Generals took it on the chin, falling 7 - 2 to the Stettler Lightning.

In Didsbury, the Mountainview Colts couldn't handle Coaldale and dropped a 5 - 3 decision to the Copperheads.

Tonight, Airdrie travels to Cochrane to face the Generals.

Game time is 7:30 pm at the Spray Lakes Sawmill Family Sports Centre.
