This week, the Thursday Thunder Player of the Week for the Airdrie Techmation Thunder is 18-year-old rookie Calan Blondeau.

From Airdrie, Blondeau has played hockey within Airdrie for many years, including with the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA, AC Avalanche U16 AAA and Airdrie CFR Bisons U18 AAA.

Shaun Guest, the General Manager of the Airdrie Techmation Thunder stated that Blondeau is a powerful offensive defenceman who is dependable and well-liked by his teammates. Blondie (his nickname) has a great attitude and is a welcomed new addition to the Thunder, Guest said.

This past weekend, the Thunder suffered two more losses, losing 6-4 to the Sylvan Lake Wranglers and 4-0 to the Red Deer Vipers. Their record now sits at 0-6.

"The first few games were pretty rough. But the last two or three have been pretty solid.

Blondeau believes as the team grows together, this season will turn around and they will see success. for himself, he expects to have a good season.

"I expect a lot out of myself personally and I just try and show up every day and work as hard as I can."

The Thunder will try their luck on the road this coming weekend with a pair of games. Friday night they head to Rocky Mountain House and a meeting with the Rams. On Saturday they'll be in Three Hills to take on the Thrashers.

While this is his rookie season, Blondeau does hope he can finish out his hockey career playing with his friends on the Thunder.
