A semi-truck engulfed in flames caused closures and delays along Highway 1, at Morley Road, yesterday.

Cochrane RCMP received a call just before 3 pm, after the driver of the semi truck said that he heard a loud bang/pop come from his truck and then smoke came from the engine area. He stopped the truck quickly and exited the vehicle where he went to the passenger side to assess his truck. It suddenly burst into flames, which engulfed the entire truck.

The driver escaped with no injuries but was transported to Foothills Hospital for observation.

West bound traffic was delayed as Highway 1 was closed at Morley Road for approximately an hours and a half while Exshaw Fire extinguished the vehicle.
