The UFA Bisons squeaked out a 5-3 win against the Toronto Young Nationals Friday for a berth in the Telus Cup semifinals.

Out to dominant start, the Bisons were up 3-1 entering the third period after goals from Cole Noble, Jordan McConnell and Gary Haden.

Zachary Vinell would add another goal at the start of the third period to give the Bisons a three goal cushion, but the team would run into some inconsistencies late in the frame.

Toronto would close the gap to two after a tally by Toronto's Ryan Bonsteel before Nate Mueller pull the Young Nationals within one with under two minutes to play.

Cody Campbell got the nod in goal for the Bisons in favour of Airdrie's Kurtis Chapman, who had played all of the team's playoff and Telus Cup games until Friday morning.

Despite a late penalty by Austin Wong, Campbell and the Bisons were able to fend off the attacking Nationals as William Conley added an empty netter to seal the 5-3 victory.

Campbell was solid between the pipes, stopping 40 of 43 shots in his first start since February 15th to close out the regular season.

The team will now face off against Grenadiers de Châteauguay in Saturday's semifinal matchup. Châteauguay bested the Bisons 5-3 at the start of tournament, with Saturday's winner moving on to the Telus Cup final and the chance to be named Canada's Midget AAA National Champion.
