This Friday, October 6 will see two undefeated high school football teams face off: the Cochrane Cobras and the Geroge McDougall Mustangs.

It's a clash of the giants within the Rocky View Sports Association (RVSA) as we will have a rematch of last year's RVSA championship game (Mustangs won).

"All eyes in the province should be looking at this one," stated the head coach of the Mustangs Chris Glass. "Cochrane is always really well coached, they have a very big running game that they've been using this year, and they like to throw the ball as well."

Glass stated he hopes his quarterback, Kohen Bohnet has a big game and that his defense is able to stand tall.

The game takes place Friday, 4 p.m. at the Ed Eggerer Field.

For the first time ever, an Airdrie team, the Mustangs, are moving up to Tier 1 in the 2023 ASAA Provincial Tournament.

"We believe that we can compete at that level and win a Tier 1 championship, this is the best Mustangs football team I've ever coached, we're pretty solid across the board."

This past week the Mustangs and Bert Church had bye weeks. The Mustangs did play Scarlet Central from Calgary in an exhibition match and won 39-21.

W.H. Croxford got their first win of the season this past Friday, beating Springbank 30-14.

We do have a battle of Airdrie as the Bert Church Chargers take on W.H. Croxford on Thursday, 4 p.m. at Ed Eggerer Field.
