An event called, "Fun Night For Fundraising" will be held this Saturday (March 18), at 7 p.m. at the Airdrie Curling rink in support of the O'Hara family, specifically Cindy and Pat.

Kelsey Davidson the organizer of the event explains why they are holding this event for them.

"Unfortunately, one of our BMX families is facing the ultimate battle of time versus cancer and his time is limited. We're trying to relieve some of the financial burdens that the family may have so they can focus on the quality time that they have with Pat right now in his health."

Pat O'Hara, a lifelong Airdrie resident, has been involved in the Airdrie BMX community for years. so his friends and family, including the BMX community are coming together to support him as of last October the colon cancer that he was diagnosed with in February 2022 turned into stage four metastatic.

Davidson talked about what the event will include.

"There is going to be our DJ. We have wonderful silent auction items from all different members within the community of Airdrie." Davidson carried on, "Our goal was to have at least 100 people come out, it's $20 to gain entrance into the event, it's a really fun night out for everyone to connect and to spend some quality time with the O'Hara's."

$2500 is the goal to raise but with the number of silent auction items they have, Davidson can foreshadow it will hopefully be a successful night.

"They're a great family that has been heavily involved in different aspects of Airdrie. They've been involved in Airdrie BMX for over 25 years. Pat himself has been a tradesman within the Calgary and Airdrie area for a long time. Both have held board member positions with Airdrie BMX, and Cindy herself has been part of early childhood education and the daycare providing throughout Airdrie in the last 20 years as well."

Davidson finished off by saying she hopes to see Airdrie rally behind the O'hara family.
