On Mar. 1, 2022, at approximately 10:42 a.m., Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit and Airdrie RCMP responded to a complaint of a motor vehicle collision that occurred in the southbound lanes of Highway 2, just north of Veteran’s Blvd.

A semi-truck and a pick-up had been driving northbound on Highway 2 when contact between the two vehicles was made. This contact lead to the semi jack-knifing and both vehicles went through the median and across the southbound lanes. Luckily, no other vehicles were hit.

The investigation revealed that this collision was a result of a road rage incident. Southbound traffic on Highway 2 was disrupted for close to 90 minutes.

The driver of the pick-up, a 49-year-old old male from Langdon, Alberta was charged with one count of Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance. He is scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on April 28th, 2022.

Airdrie RCMP Integrated Traffic Unit is asking anyone with any information regarding this incident to please call them at 403-945-7200.
