UPDATE 2:  Calgary Police say they have preliminarily identified a body found in a rural area north of Airdrie.

The body, which was discovered Tuesday along a gravel road is believed to be that of Sheldon Wolf from Carrot River Saskatchewan.

The death is considered suspicious and is currently being investigated by the Calgary Police Service Homicide Unit, with assistance from the RCMP.

Wolf was reported missing in the late afternoon of Monday, Feb. 3rd. He was last seen around 7:00 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 2, leaving the Sandman Hotel, in southwest Calgary. His remains were found mid-afternoon in a rural area north of Airdrie.

Officers were able to make a preliminary identification and notify next of kin that they believed they had found Wolf.

Police say evidence connected to WOLF’s disappearance was discovered in Calgary’s Elliston Park and a subsequent search of the park occurred on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

“We are determined to get to the bottom of what happened to Mr. Wolf. No visitor should ever have to come to [Calgary] and be concerned about their safety,” said Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta, CPS Homicide Unit. At this time, we believe he willingly met with individuals who he had no previous relationship with prior to coming to Calgary.”

As this is an active investigation, no further information is expected to be released by police or RCMP until the autopsy can confirm cause and manner of death.
